And with double the baby brain, I'm forgetting a lot these days, so here are some random tings from the last couple of weeks.
Samuel has named the sippy cup we use at bed time "bambaloo". Marc and I have no idea what it means, but he's said it very clearly for about a week.
We went to the zoo two weekends ago and every day for the following week while we were on our way home from daycare, he'd point to the intersection of the street that leads to the zoo and say "no, aya vamos a monkeys" ("no, this way to monkeys") when we went straight instead of turning. What struck me the most though is that he recognized the intersection even though we were coming to it from a completely different direction. It's one of those DC intersections with 6 streets coming together - when we went to the zoo we were coming from the west and turning north, from day care though we come from one of the streets that comes from the north east. The visit to the zoo was fantastic. He spent all his time with the "monkeys" (mostly orangutans, gorillas and other primates as there are no monkeys at the DC zoo) and sat and looked at one for quite a some time while the gorilla played peek-a-boo with a blanket.
He loves watching YouTube videos of airplanes and trains. We're not sure who has time and inclination to gather footage of multiple airplanes and trains and set them to music, but we are eternally grateful. When Samuel wakes up in the morning, we bring him to bed and put to one of the YouTube videos and get an extra 10 - 15 minutes of time to lye down before we have to get up. The other favourite series of YouTube are ones with Oh Canada which is one of his favourite songs - he can sing it from beginning to end and although the words aren't prefect they are definitely recognizable.
Last week, we had our first parent-teacher conference and Samuel got rave reviews. He interacts well with the other kids, he can concentrate on the task at hand, his art work shows good coordination, he likes to read, he's a very avid singer and dancer, he eats well, brushes his teeth and sits on the toilet (that's as far is it's gone, but it's a step in the right direction). Marc and I, on the other hand, have to make a bigger effort to be on time.

Me encanta ver las fotos y leer lo que escribe Silvia. Al ver esas fotos tan maravillosas y leer los comentarios veo con felicidad lo bella que es esta familia. No me cabe la duda de donde salieron los genes.
