After a month hiatus to move, Samuel's blog is back. First, a retrospective that I'll add to as I remember more things.
These are the things that Samuel loved doing in his old home and neighbourhood:
- Fast Running down the hill (he got so fast I couldn't keep up with him)
- the patos (ducks) on the Potomac and C&O Canal
- the excitement when there were fire trucks on our street - he talked about it for weeks
- "driving" the circular shaped repair notice on the fire hydrant on K street
- saying fries each time we passed Chadwicks, knowing the location of every ice cream store
- asking for bagels and coffee for Daddy on weekend mornings
- all the planes and helicopters overhead
- pointing to his "casa" (home) on the map to the Papermill
- the pool and the lifeguards
- when he was really little, he loved the wall paper in the bathroom
- putting his dirty clothes directly into the washing machine when we undressed him after dinner, or if we undressed him upstairs, he'd throw his laundry down the stairs to the landing
- eating "aroz & frijoles" (rice and beans) at Chipotle, and pointing it out every time we passed
- the celling fans at Dean & Deluca
- dancing to the piped in music outside the mall
- riding the escalators at the mall
- seeing the neighbourhood dogs from a distance.
