Samuel's Birthday

(ok, it was almost two months ago and in fact, last year, but here it is).

Montessori schools do a beautiful ceremony during which the birthday child lights a candle that symbolizes the sun and walks around that candle holding the globe, one circle around for each year of life. As the birthday child walks around in a clockwise direction the other kids sing a song about the earth going around the sun. Samuel walked around the sun so quickly, he must have circled it at least a dozen times. But then, he walked counter clockwise, so in the end it may have balanced out.
